Winning a championship with a game to spare is hallmark of a great team……

We are delighted to announce that our man David Cross has just helped his AFC Ann Arbor team to clinch their NPSL Great Lakes Championship and with it a little bit of history for the Michigan based side.

They had to do it the hard was with a come from behind to win 2-1 over Grand Rapids FC Friday night with the win securing the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region Playoffs in front of an incredible home crowd of just over 7000 fans.

The top seed has a bye in the first round of regional action next weekend.

Coach Eric Rudland was delighted, but wanted to maintain the focus on the playoff push.

“It’s an exhilarating feeling to win the league, but we’ve said all year this was our goal.” He said. “But we don’t want to be happy with [just] this. We want to make a push in the playoffs.”

The Mighty Oak will play on July 28th in the Midwest Regional Semifinal (location and opponent TBD).

Congratulations to David on a fantastic achievement and yet another honour in a glittering career since he moved Stateside.

Everyone back here at Sporting Futures USA is extremely proud of his continued success.
